This film was made during Scripps Institution of Oceanography Capricorn Expedition, a 1952-1953 expedition to the South Pacific with two Scripps vessels, R/V Spencer F. Baird and R/V Horizon. This silent black and white projection print includes shots of shipboard activity, including brief shots of Arthur Maxwell and Feenan Jennings in a skiff. The amateur film was taken with a hand held camera and is not professional quality footage. The original projection print is labeled, "Scenes on BAIRD and HORIZON at Sea, Bikini & Eninnan--unclassified Ivy." The first leg of Capricorn Expedition was part of Operation Ivy, the first thermonuclear test, but this film does not include any scenes of the thermonuclear test. The film was received with the John Isaacs papers.
